19 01 2008        Birmingham City 0 Chelsea 1
For the first half of this game Chelsea played really well. Slick passing, superb interceptions - but nothing to show for it.

The game seemed to fall apart for Chelsea when SWP was substituted owing to an injury. Then followed some comical
defending which nearly led to a goal for an impressive Birmingham side. Alex proved that he does not have a left foot by
continuously passing the ball back to Petr Cech when under pressure. We got lucky when Jerome only hit the post from
a woeful clearance by our normally reliable goalie.

The rest of the match followed the same pattern, but we were lucky in the end when another superb Belletti corner led to
a great Pizarro headed goal, who up until that moment was having a very average game.

Just like the first day of the season, Birmingham have impressed me and seem to be the team with the best credentials
out of the promoted teams to stay up this season. It was, however, a pretty quiet St Andrews and nothing like previous
visits where we were met by a vociferous home support in the Robbie Savage days. It was also a shock to see so many
empty seats in their end.... maybe watching a team yo-yo so much between divisions has taken its toll on some of their
weaker supporters.

A massive game against Everton this week, and due to work am gutted that I cannot make it. I would love to see
Tottenham through - what a final that would be if we manage to survive at Goodison Park!
