08 01 2008        Chelsea 2 Everton 1
Finally Avram listened to me and dropped Kalou! And then sent him packing back to Africa (one way ticket I hope!)

This was one of the most enjoyable games of the season for many reasons. Chelsea dominated the game against a
good Everton side, and up until that idiot Mikel got himself sent off (what was he doing?) Everton had only one decent
effort on goal. Having said that, the FA should begin to take retrospective action against players who pretend they are
injured and exacerbate the situation of a player who has committed what is admittedly a poor tackle. As well as scoring
an own goal for his old club Man Utd last season that probably put the nail in the coffin of our title chances, he managed
to sprint back into action a minute after lying in agony as if his leg had fallen off... I guess that's what United teach their
players! What made the result really pleasing was the way the team bounced back after the visitors equalised to win the
game. SWP had one of those brilliant days that occur about one in three appearances for him.

Well done to the Everton fans who came to Stamford Bridge in their droves for a midweek game - perhaps more of an
indication of how important the League Cup is to them. Let's hope we don't embarrass ourselves with our attendance in
the return leg in a couple of weeks' time.

On to Tottenham, and as I write it appears Anelka has signed for us. I have never really liked this player despite his
excellent goalscoring record. Having said that, Drogba has always been a moaning twunt and is now firmly a fan's
favourite. In any case, with only one striker available he is a welcome addition to a depleted attack, and hopefully a long
term replacement for one of our other three useless strikers!
