31 10 2007 Chelsea 4 Leicester City 3
If there is something that I hate as much as Sky then it's London transport. To get from the City of London to Stamford
Bridge is a complete nightmare, and the District Line a complete disgrace. What is worse is that train drivers in London
love to tell you with glee about problems ahead when they are halfway through a tunnel: this all meant panicking in the
dark and then jumping out at of the tube when we reached Temple and trying to find a cab that a/. was available; and b/.
wanted to take us to Stamford Bridge as there were signal problems at Gloucester Road and West Brompton. So a 50
minute journey turned into 2 hours and an extra £20 for the cab!
We found a cab who took us as close as we could... and for the first time in a long while I was late for kick off and kept
the person with my ticket waiting too. Arriving so late means that it is tough to savour the atmosphere of the game, and
even though it was a fantastic match I was not relaxed enough to feel the game.
Chelsea were absolutely atrocious at the back: Ben Haim is even worse than Boulahrouz! I am glad I was not the
Chelsea manager though, as when we went 3-2 down I could not believe that he made substitutions so that we were left
with only three at the back - one who was a left winger in Malouda! And I was glad Grant put me wrong, as that was one
of the great fightbacks against a spirited Leicester side.
Unfortunately I was a bit behind the play when we scored out fourth for some reason I thought the linesman was flagging
for a foul and hence didn't cheer... and thus did not manage to vent the tension in my soul from being 3-2 down to
winning 4-3.
A very enjoyable game, but one that shows our defensive frailties without Carvalho and Terry at the back. Shevchenko
scored again: it was interesting to note that Lampard was not to keen on celebrating with him.
