13 05 2007 Chelsea 1 Everton 1
Jesus wept. What a poor ending to the season. Five successful league draws must be the worst run under Jose's tenure!
It's not all been bad, and as the manager said he is happy that fans can be unhappy that we have "only" won the
League Cup, finished second in the league, reached the Champions' League Semi Final and the FA Cup Final.
Nevertheless there were some frustrations yesterday. Kalou has saved us on a couple of occasions this season. Yes,
he is young, but even at the age of 21 I expect a lot more of him. He shoots when he doesn't need to and doesn't shoot
when he should! He always looks dangerous enough on the left but lacks consistency enough. Times like this make me
wonder if we should have kept Eidur as an understudy. Let's hope next season he improves.
Elsewhere on the pitch Bridge had a great game apart from giving the ball away that lead to Everton's goal! Drogba
deservedly scored his 20th league goal of the season winning him the golden boot. Congratulations Didier, and keep it
up for next season.
So Chelsea at least equalled Liverpool's record of a grillion games at home unbeaten. The scousers were lucky that
they did this in a period when Ian Rush could pass the ball back to Grobelaar who would pick it up, who would pass it to
Hansen, who would pass it back to Grobelaar, etcetc - at least we did it in some style!
At the end half the stadium emptied and those supporters who stayed - well done for applauding the team. Despite
extreme circumstances they have been very brave this season and deserved some recognition from the fans. It was
good to se Bobby Campbell in the stands too looking very brown indeed!
The Cup Final is a must win game for Chelsea. As long as Graham Poll or David Elleray are not refereeing we stand half
a chance despite the crucial injuries we have. Wembley here we come!
