The Community Shield was a good excuse to meet some old friends and have a few beers.

The match was tedious beyond extreme - I even missed the Shevchenko goal as I went to search for some alcohol to
drown my boredom.

Apart from that I cannot report very much - both teams were fairly average and if this is the fayre that we are going to
witness for the rest of the season then armchair fans will ask Sky for a refund.

Chelsea's support was embarrassing - I doubt we even sold two thirds of our allocation. I hope those members who have
been clamouring to have priority over season ticket holders for away games turned up.

I look forward to the proper season starting now. No doubt we shall hear talk from old benny Benitez of how well
Liverpool have gelled compared to Chelsea today - but then again, this is the only trophy they will win this season.

Bring on the proper competitions!
