09 04 2006 10 man Chelsea 4 West Ham 1
Finally! We have our Chelsea back. What a game! And we won with only 10 men against our bitter enemy!
Chelsea played superbly today and deserved the win. After West Ham scored, Maniche was sent off debatably. I had my
head in my hands and honestly felt we had blown the league at that stage. But Chelsea fought back superbly. After the
sending off I cannot remember West Ham having another shot on target.
The first half was arguably one of the most memorable this season. First Drogba, then Crespo scored - cue euphoria at
the Bridge. One of the best feelings in a match is when you score once, and then follow that up with a quick goal a few
minutes later. In the second half Chelsea dominated and added two more. Having seen the Sky replays when I got back
after the match, the commentators seemed immensely disappointed that Chelsea had fought back so well.
Every player on the pitch was superb. Makelele was on a different planet. Drogba showed what he can do when he gets
down to business. Crespo even tracked back to tackle! Geremi was an unsung hero too, and on this performance is
possibly the best right back at the club. It was great to see the West Ham support leaving with twenty minutes to go.
"You're support is fucking shit" they sang at the end, and when I looked towards them, half of their support had already
left back to pikey land!
I was very disappointed, and relieved, that West Ham had nothing in attack. After all the superlatives used for them this
season it shows that they are nothing better than a mid table team. The gulf in class was tremendous.
So Bolton next week, and if Arsenal can do us a favour today, we may have the title wrapped up in a couple of weeks! I
will not forget this game for a very long time!
