26 02 2006        More racism abroad
I see last night there were more monkey chants directed at a black players in an overseas European league.

This time it was against Eto'o from Zaragoza fans when Barcelona played there.

It is time UEFA got its act together and began heavily punishing the clubs that do this. Last season, Zaragoza received a
paltry 600 Euros fine when their fans did exactly the same thing.

In November 2005, Messina's Ivory Coast defender Zoro threatened to halt a Serie A game in Italy after suffering racial
abuse from visiting Inter Milan supporters.

Last year the Spanish national manager Aragones called Thierry Henry "
a black shit". There were also pictures beamed
back on Sky during a Real Madrid game where their home fans were openly sporting swastika tattoos.

I would be interested to know what would have happened if this had occurred at an English game. It seems to be one
rule for English fans and another for European fans. UEFA has to act before it loses it's last tiny thread of credibility.
