FOOLIGANS - THE MOVIE
When I lost my job I had many brainstorms on how to become a millionaire.
They ranged from the sublime to the ridiculous, and I often wondered if I was turning into Alan Partridge thinking up
television ideas such as "Monkey Tennis" and "Knowing M.E., Knowing You".
There has been a spate of hooligan films out over the last few years, ranging from the sublime to the ridiculous. They
have some salient points, but seem a far distance to the reality of football nowadays.
Recently at a Spurs Chelsea match, their fans seemed mightily aggrieved that they were shown to have been
humiliated by Chelsea hooligans in the film, "The Football Factory", and I heard several shouting, "It's not the Football
Factory now, is it?" as they randomly attacked any Chelsea fan wearing their colours outside White Hart Lane.
You cannot pretend that football hooligan films do not have an impact. Even in Scandinavia, two rival firms fought
before the opening of The Football Factory - talk about life imitating art imitating life!
I am no script writer, I just simply want to cast a satirical look at the phenomenon of football hooligans.
It is completed now although any suggestions on improvements are welcome.
